Grand hotel Taipei

Grand hotel was built in 1952.

In those days, people used electricity fan in the summer time.   People had no idea about what is the so-called cooler.  Grand hotel was one of the few places where cooler was used in Taiwan.

It owns 487 rooms.   In front of Grand hotel, the passing by river is Keelung river.   In the evening time, you may enjoy the great beautiful Taipei city view just in your room.   It's quiet up there. Please do remember to tell clerk for the room facing the river side when you book the hotel room.

Of course, the food in the hotel is great and famous.  The Chinese food restaurant on higher floor offers customer great view of the Keelung river and 101 landmark.

Pagua hill

Pagua hill is at the downtown of Changhua city.

It's a park area where visitors may look down the whole Changhua city.   The area is big enough.  So many trees, you may sit under the tree for a little rest.  After all, the hill climbing is not easy to the person who don't have good knees.   It's ok.  People can drive car up there directly to the higher part.

Buddha Sculpture is sitting there 24 hours.

There is a small cafe shop on the right side of the front door.  The antique decoration is great. It's nice for you to take a rest there, if you have time.

How to reach there?  It's not far from Changhua train station.  By walking, it takes 20 minutes only.  I chose to walk up there.

2012 Taichung Traditional Arts Festival

There were 11 shows in the 2012 Taichung Traditional Arts Festival between Feb 9~Mar 3.  The last one of Mar 3 was held in Dong Shi district of Taichung city.

The show time was 7:00~9:00pm right outside of the Dong Shi Hakka Cultural Hall.   Four groups in the show and they were Feng Yuang Teenager Orchestra, Old King Jazz Band, Taiwan Traditional Opera College and The Ninth Heaven Folk Custom Technique Group.

The first group was Feng Yuang Teenager Orchestra.  They played some happy musics which can be heard in the lunar Taiwanese new year time.  I didn't know the names of the musics but I liked the musics well.

The second group was the Old King Jazz Band.   They played four songs and three of them were Taiwanese popular songs: a)Let's go to Tai Tung 2)grasshopper fools chicken male 3)hometown nightfall.

The third group was Taiwan Traditional Opera college.   People loved this group most.   The man in the high sky standing on so many chairs almost drove me crazy.    My heart was going to jump out, but he still went on building chairs higher and higher.  He ignored my scare at all!!

The fourth group was The Ninth Heaven Folk Custom Technique Group.   In the Taiwanese new year time, one movie "Din Tao" was hot and the true story of the movie is describing this group.   Of course, most of the actors in the movie do come from this group.
