The main dragon lantern is in the stadium of Lukang. There were so many kinds of smaller
lanterns both inside and outside of the stadium.
This year, the lantern festival used size was ten times of the past festival's. The Lukang lantern festival was much welcomed by people and the total visitors were more than 1200 millions. The nine dragons in sky of Zhong Shan Road will be switched off till 228 next week, but the show was closed on 19th already.
Next year, the lantern festival show shall be held in Hsin Chu city.
Yesterday 23th, Executive Yuan held the meeting regarding the 2012 lantern festival result. The committee director of council of cultural affairs Miss Long Ying-Tai suggested to move the yearly lantern festival show back to Taipei from now on. Why? Because it's far away from Taipei? The distance made most of the Taipei residents don't see the show? As I knew, residents next to Lukang went to see show for so many times!!
I truly don't like her opinion. 2012 is the 23th year. It's always been held in Taipei for 11 years and DPP President Mr. Chen Shui-Bian
passed it to other cities; since that other cities had the opportunity to hold the festival.
This year, although Lukang streets are small, they did a great job in the traffic issue.
During the show period, each day 100 big shuttle buses waited for visitors at many stations. Visitors
didn't spend time to wait for bus. Lukang is a romantic and beautiful cultural township. I'm proud of saying:"In Czech,
there is Prague. In Taiwan, there is Lukang."
